Why hire a professional pet sitter?
Sometimes, asking our friends and family members to take on the responsibility of caring for our pets when we are away can be a big burden. There's also a good chance that your friends and neighbors lack proper pet-care experience and may even forget to show up. By hiring a professional, we will never forget about your pets. A professional pet sitter spends quality time with your pet, gives him exercise, and knows how to tell if your pet needs any medical attention. In addition, a professional pet sitter, such as The Furry Godmother, can offer additional services, such as bringing in mail and newspapers, watering plants and turning lights on and off. This helps to provide a continued "lived in" look to deter crime. The Furry Godmother is fully licensed, bonded and insured and our commitment to you and your pets is our number one priority! With The Furry Godmother, you are getting a professional company with excellant customer service and a team of highly experianced, background checked sitters whos passion is the care of your loved ones!
How does the service work?
To schedule services, please simply fill out a contact form online and submit OR call us directly at 302.547.2078. Once we receive your information we will schedule a FREE in home consult.
What days and hours are you open?
The Furry Godmother is available to serve you 365 days a year and 24 hours a day!
What happens at the FREE in home consult?
The FREE in home consult takes place between you and the assigned sitter at a convenient time in your schedule. It is a wonderful opportunity for your family to meet us and for us to meet your family. The consult typically lasts 30-40 minutes and we spend time gathering information on your animals routine, feeding schedule, likes and dislikes and veterinarian and emergency contacts. At this time, we will also go over our policies and procedures and answer any questions you may have. We also ask that you please have two copies of your house key prepared for us (one for the sitter and one for the office to hold).
Is a deposit required?
Yes. We require a deposit of 25% of your invoice total within 7 days of your consult. Your balance will be due 7 to 10 days after your return. Should your consult fall within 7 days of your departure, FULL payment willl be required at the time of consult or by the first visit. This policy DOES NOT APPLY to regular, monthly clients. New, monthly clients will be required to make a one time deposit of $50.00. This deposit follows the same guidelines as above and is due within 7 days of the consult.
What forms of payment do you accept?
The Furry Godmother is happy to accept cash, checks and all major credit cards via PayPal.

What do you look for in a sitter?
All Furry Godmothers are specially chosen. Only responsible pet sitters are hired.The Godmothers
MUST have not just a love, but a PASSION for animals. All sitters go through a criminal background
and referance checks.
Can I book reservations or make changes directly through my assigned sitter?
All reservations and changes need to be made directly through the office . If this is not done, neither
you nor the sitter will have the protection of our liability insurance and dishonesty bond. At The Furry
Godmother, we highly encourage a strong relationship between client and sitter and so we
are happy to let you CC your sitter in any email correspondance you make with the office.
How do I know the sitter has shown up?
We hire only responsible sitters and to assure your confidence, The Furry Godmother
requires all sitters to leave notes for every visit they make. These notes will tell you of
your pets behavior, as well as eating, exercise, health and other behaviors. For our
regular clients, these notes are a fantastic way to learn about the bond being made
between sitter and pet.
Should I tip my sitter?
Treat our service as you would any other. Pet sitters are thrilled to receive monetary
appreciation for superior service. Nothing is EVER expected, but it is always appreciated.
If you do decide to tip your sitter, we ask that you please leave the tip seperate from
your payment by giving the sitter cash or noting on your check the amount included for tip.
Is the Furry Godmother associated with any professional animal associations?
The Furry Godmother is a proud member of Professional United Pet Sitters, Pet
Sitting Directory and Pet Sitters Associates. We also strongly support organizations
such as Paws for People, Delaware Humane Society and Best Friends Animal Society.

Up to 72 hours prior to day of departure - No charge and deposit refunded.
72 to 48 hours prior to day of departure - Deposit is forfeited for vacation clients.
48 to 24 hours prior to day of departure - 50% of service total is due from vacation clients.
Regular scheduled clients will be charged a $5 fee 24 hours prior up until 10am the day of
service.
Less than 24 hours prior to day of service - 75% of service total is due from vacation clients.
Regular scheduled clients will be charged a $10 fee if canceling after 10am day of service OR
full amount of scheduled service if sitter shows for visit.
*If any service starts within three days prior to a holiday (holiday ia when extra fees are charged)
all cancelation policies will incur an additional $15 fee.
